However, some flaws in the AppLock Android feature were discovered. Security experts claim that this function falls short of protecting a smartphone of circumstances, including:

In the first scenario, no encryption is applied to the files kept in the vault. They are somewhat buried in the device’s file structure. How do I use the features?

You may easily lock your phone apps using ASUS AppLock if you don’t want other people to use them. Use a password, pattern, or fingerprint to protect your apps.

Use pattern or PIN as an unlock mechanism

The following steps must be completed before you can set up a pattern or 4-digit PIN as the AppLock unlock mechanism and begin locking away your apps:

1. On each of the following screens, look for the Lock applications option:

  • Manage Home screen: To access Manage Home, swipe up or tap and hold the Home screen. Then select Lock applications.
  • All Apps screen: From the All Apps screen, tap  > Lock apps.

2. Choose a 4-digit PIN or pattern as your unlocking method and set it up so that you lose your PIN or pattern to access the AppLock function, set up a Password Rescuer.

Notes:
By selecting Skip, this step can also be skipped.

Swipe up or tap and hold the Home screen to access Manage Home, then tap Preferences> Lock applications> Password Rescuer to set up Password Rescuer later.

Locking / Unlocking apps

Your apps can be locked or unlocked in one of two ways:

  • via Manage Home screen
  • via All Apps screen

A. App locks and unlocks via the Manage Home screen:

  • To access Manage Home, swipe up or tap and hold the Home screen.
  • Then tap Lock Applications.
  • For the AppLock feature to work, enter your PIN or pattern.
  • Then press Done after selecting the apps you wish to lock or unlock.

Note: Apps that have a lock icon in yellow are locked apps; those that have a lock icon in white are unlocked apps.

B. Through the All Apps panel, you can lock or unlock apps.

  • From the All Apps screen, tap  > Lock apps.
  • For the AppLock feature to work, enter your PIN or pattern.
  • Then press Done after selecting the apps you wish to lock or unlock.

Use fingerprint as an unlock mechanism

You can quickly unlock your private apps by using your fingerprint if your smartphone supports fingerprint recognition to unlock the AppLock function, you must enable fingerprint verification.

Note: Only devices running Android N and ZenUI Launcher V3.0.8.1 170120 or later versions are supported for this feature.

To enable fingerprint:

1. Both of the following screens should have a Preferences option:

  • Manage Home screen: To access Manage Home, swipe up or tap and hold the Home screen. Then tap Preferences.
  • All Apps screen: From the All Apps screen, tap  > Preferences.

2. On the Preferences screen, tap AppLock.

3. To unlock, scan your fingerprint or enter the pattern or four-digit PIN.

4. Tick Use fingerprint authentication to lock and unlock apps.

Turning off AppLock

You can disable AppLock by taking the following actions if you don’t want to utilize it:

1. Both of the following screens should have a Preferences option:

  • Manage Home screen: To access Manage Home, swipe up or tap and hold the Home screen. Then tap Preferences.
  • All Apps screen: From the All Apps screen, tap > Preferences.

2. On the Preferences screen, tap AppLock.

3. Enter the pattern or 4-digit PIN to unlock, or scan your fingerprint.

4. To disable AppLock, slide the slider to the left.

Tidbits on using AppLock

You can modify the lock settings for your apps to suit your tastes. The choices that you have are listed below:

  1. Always after use (default): The app locks automatically when you leave it unused for a while.
  2. 3 minutes after unlocking: The app locks automatically when you leave it unlocked for 3 minutes.
  3. After screen off: The app locks automatically when the device screen is off.

To set up your app’s lock settings, go to Preferences > AppLock then tap When to lock apps.

If you’ve selected 3 minutes after unlock or After screen lock, you have the option to unlock all apps at once. All locked apps will be instantly unlocked whenever you unlock and launch one. Without going through the 4-PIN, pattern, or fingerprint authentication, you can start those protected apps.

To enable this feature, go to the AppLock settings screen, then tick Unlock all apps.

How to change the background?

  1. open Applock, and click the background in the left menu.
  2. click “+” and choose a photo.
  3. Adjust the size and click “ok”.
  4. Click the image of your choice to apply it.
